Sestriere

Sestriere is an internationally renowned winter resort gathering excellent hotels and tourist services. It also hosts important sporting events, such as Alpine Skiing and Snowboarding Championships and Winter Olympics. Situated a short distance from the French border and Turin, Sestriere  rises at an altitude of 2035 metres above sea level, on the top of the homonymous hill which develops in the foothills of Mount Sises (2658 metres above sea level) halfway between Val Chisone and Valle di Susa.

Provided with excellent connections with five important winter resorts and modern ski-lift facilities, Sestriere is situated just in the heart of the large Via Lattea ski district, which gathers 146 Alpine skiing slopes developing across almost 400 kilometres and over 90 ski-lift facilities. Among the most important slopes are Fraiteve, Sises, Kandahar, Nasi and Banchetta, which hosted some of the most challenging skiing competitions of the last decades. A short distance from Sestriere's facilities are an exciting snowpark, a modern ice rink gathering outdoor skating rinks and a specialized centre which organizes amazing excursions with huskies, while the nearby resort of Monterotta is home to a 10-kilometre-long cross-country trail. The surrounding area also gathers clusters of itineraries to be covered by ski poles. Sestriere's sports centres organize exciting trekking and climbing excursions across charming routes with fixed ropes and iron steps which are able to attract large numbers of expert skiers and climbers.

In summer, sports lovers will have the opportunity to take advantage of the 18-hole Sestriere's golf course and of  a charming natural lake where they can perform sports fishing, as well as to enjoy paragliding and mountain biking. The tourist offer is complemented by swimming pools, tennis courts, football pitches, basketball fields, well-equipped gyms and targeted riding itineraries, which attract thousands of tourists and sportsmen all year round.

Sestriere's old town is the point of departure of exciting itineraries; one of the most appreciated excursions leads to Punta Rognosa del Sestriere (3280 metres above sea level),  the highest peak in Val Chisone which can be reached from Sestriere's hill in 5 hours through rough paths and mule tracks.
Valle di Susa too gathers plenty of interesting itineraries; not to be missed are the charming footpaths which lead to Mount Fraiteve and Mount Musinè.

Sestriere is livened up by absorbing cultural events, glamorous clubs, elegant boutiques and stylish shops which make its city centre the traditional gathering place for those looking for amazing entertainment activities and events.
