Among the most appreciated ski itineraries and excursions of the surrounding area are the Tour of Sellaronda, also known as Tour of the 4 Passes since it crosses the main mountain passes of Val di Fassa, Val di Livinallongo, Val Badia and Val Gardena through a 40-kilometre-long itinerary, and the Tour of Gardena Ronda, a 38-kilometre-long itinerary featuring medium difficulty which includes several famous slopes, such as Saslong, Dantercepies and La Longia in Ortisei. The Tour of Sellaronda can also be effected on the road and is one of the most appreciated itineraries for both cyclists and motorcyclists.

Ortisei, Santa Cristina and Selva Valgardena, situated in the province of Bolzano, are the main resorts in Val Gardena, and are provided with high-quality tourist services, modern accommodation facilities and state-of-the-art slopes and ski-lift facilities. Ortisei, which is situated 1236 metres above sea level, is the prosperous main resort for the pretty Val Gardena, and a major centre for woodcarving; examples of local craftmanship may be seen in local shops.

A short distance from Ortisei's accommodation facilities are targeted footpaths leading to the popular Alpe di Siusi and Mount Seceda. East of Ortisei is Santa Cristina Valgardena, which makes the ideal base for exploring the surrounding woods. Selva Valgardena is situated just in the heart of Sellaronda, a short distance from modern slopes and well-equipped facilities. Selva Valgardena is the traditional departure point of exciting trekking itineraries, Nordic Walking excursions and mountain biking experiences.
