The complex of St. Giovanni gathers the XV-century Church of St. John the Baptist and the Evangelist and plenty of further spaces which are now the venue for important events and exhibitions. Not to be missed are the cultural buildings of the city centre, such as the exhibition spaces of the complex of St. John, the new Politeama Theatre designed by Paolo Portoghesi, “Magna Graecia” Arena, “Casalinuovo” Auditorium and the so-called House of the Memory of Mimmo Rotella, the city's most illustrious citizen who worked here between the 50s and the 90s.
