Not to be missed are Villa Taranto and its marvellous botanical gardens, which are situated in a lush green area extending halfwaty bewteen Pallanza and Intra. The nineteenth-century Villa Taranto is now the seat of public offices and can't be visited, but visitors will have the opportunity to walk across the park while admiring its lush gardens, terraces, tanks, waterfalls, fountains and scented exotic plants.
The panoramic promontory of Punta della Castagnola hosts the Oratory of St. Remigio, a small Romanesque church gathering outstanding frescos which has recently been appointed national monument.
Intra stands out as an important port of call of Lake Maggiore. Its lake front offers breathtaking views over the surrounding landscape while leading visitors to the mouth of the stream San Giovanni.
