Hotels Caorle, Guesthouses Caorle and Apartment Hotels Caorle
The charming coastal town of Caorle overlooks the Gulf of Venice a short distance from the glamorous Lido di Jesolo. Its beautiful and well-equipped sandy beaches, which have been appreciated since the 60s by both Italian and foreign tourists, are complemented by a charming old town which still retains the fascination of an ancient fishing village rich in narrow streets and so-called campielli which cherish the city's main sights.
To spend a holiday together with the whole family, the hotels in Caorle situated along the sea front
propose special agreements with the nearby bathing establishments, as well as modern services, entertainment and swimming pools. In the ancient village it is possible to book bedrooms in cheap guesthouses to enjoy pleasant seaside holidays at reasonable prices. Porto Santa Margherita and
Duna Verde provide modern 3-star hotels overlooking the lively sea front and luxurious 4-star hotels provided with wide balconies overlooking the sea.
Life in Caorle revolves around the beach, where bathing attendants provide sports equipment, games for children and twin-hall pleasure boats for hire. Not to be missed is the so-called “Scogliera Viva” (Live Cliff), an event which every year gathers sculptors from all over the world who decorate the rocks of the Riviera, giving the coastline an original aspect.
A stroll along the sea front gives tourists the opportunity to discover ancient traditions looking at fishermen while mooring their fishing boats, unloading their ships or mending their nets. Guests will also admire numerous Casoni (the ditch reed-made huts where fishermen lived) overlooking the lagoon. An impressive description of these fascinating spots is to be found in the romance “Across the river and into the trees” by Ernest Hemingway, a famous guest in Caorle.
The long tourist tradition led to the development of modern services designed to suit even the most demanding requirements, such as two basins to host pleasure boats for those who reach the gulf with their own boat, shops and clubs situated along the sea front which are open till late at night and a genuine cooking based on fish to be tasted in luxurious restaurants or cheap trattorias.
Walking down the old town it is possible to discover interesting spots and fascinating workshops selling original souvenirs. Among the major attractions of the ancient village is the Cathedral; built in 1048, it boasts an impressive Romanesque facade embellished by Byzantine bas-reliefs dating back to the XIIth century. Outside, the Romanesque bell tower has a cylindrical structure and is surmounted by a cone-shaped cusp.
The Sancturay of the Madonna dell’Angelo, a traditional pilgrim mecca, is situated on the north-eastern coast. It shields a wooden statue of the Virgin and an interesting Baroque altar.
