Hotels Alberobello, Guesthouses Alberobello and Apartment Hotels Alberobello
Alberobello is a picturesque hilltown situated in the province of Bari which is internationally known as the “city of the trulli” for the mysterious buildings characterizing its old town. It is a U.N.E.S.C.O. World Heritage Site and the Trulli capital. Strange circular buildings with conical roofs and domed within, trulli are built from local limestone stacked without using mortar and contribute to make Alberobello an appreciated holiday destination.
To spend some days in the hotels situated in the old town is an outstanding opportunity to enjoy relax and good cooking. Both 3- and 4-star hotels rise on the eastern hill where the modern city develops too. Alberobello also provides cheap accommodation in budget hotels and bed and breakfasts. The lovers of nature and local traditions can spend their holidays in lovely holiday farms providing comfortable accommodation and excellent cooking.
The two hills over which the city develops feature different patterns but are equally appreciated by tourists flocking here. The eastern hill lurking the modern city, which is scattered with clubs, restaurants and shops, makes the ideal base for pleasant walks or drives. The western hill shields the old town, made up of nearly thousand trulli distributed into two districts: Aia piccola and Monti. Walking down their narrow streets, it is possibile to admire these beautiful limestone buildings and their conical roofs, as well as to have a look at their interiors through the open doors. The oldest trulli, situated in the Monti district, date back to the XVI-XVII century. Here is the big Trullo Sovrano, the only two-storey one, and the trullo-shaped Church of St Anthony.
Besides the old town, not to be missed are the nearby Grotte di Castellana and the ancient Church of Barsento and its farm.
