Zola Predosa, a small municipality of the province of Bologna, is situated halfway between the local plain and the first reliefs of the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines. Its territory extends across the central-western part of the province, and is characterized by the presence of the prestigious site of “Gessi di Monte Rocca, Monte Capra e Tizzano”.

A traditional holiday destination for large numbers of tourists looking for the utmost peace and tranquillity, this ancient hilly village is scattered with plenty of excellent hotels and guest houses belonging to any price category. The local farm houses and bed and breakfasts, that are situated amidst the lush green hills that surround the city centre, give guests the possibility to spend pleasant holidays here while going for pleasant naturalistic walks and tasting traditional local specialities from Emilia.

The city's most prestigious sacred building is the Abbey of St. Nicolò and Agata, that was formed around the half of the fifteenth century after the merging of two pre-existing churches. Its sober facade is embellished by a beautiful semi-circular apse and by two statues of the Saints, while its interior cherishes a precious 25-stop organ dating back to 1600.
Zola Predosa's most original architectural masterpiece is Palazzo Albergati. Inside this majestic residence, that was erected in the heart of the surrounding countryside in the second half of the XVII century, the marchese Francesco Albergati commissioned the building of a theatre that could accommodate up to 300 people. This palace is one of the most representative examples of Baroque architecture in Italy, and it is currently the venue for numerous concerts and events. Not to be missed are the ancient rural buildings that have recently  been turned into elegant manor houses, such as the sixteenth-century Villa Bentivoglio-Pepoli, that is characterized by an imposing stable separated by three cross-vaulted naves, and Villa Zanchini-Garagnani, that was erected in 1679 and still retains wonderful Venetian floors and prestigious stuccoes dating back to the end of the eighteenth century.
Tourists won't miss the opportunity to take part in the International Festival of Zola Predosa's Mortadella, the so-called “Mortadella Please”. This popular event, that was inaugurated in 2007, takes place every year in October, and gives participants the possibility to taste both mortadella and plenty of further genuine local staples from the surrounding area.
