Vicchio, a small municipality of the province of Florence, separate the famous Mugello area from the nearby Val di Sieve. Situated a short distance from Borgo San Lorenzo and totally surrounded by glorious landscapes and lush vegetation, it was the native town of two of the most important Italian painters, Giotto and Beato Angelico.

The central Piazza Giotto, that is dominated by an outstanding monument to the painter by the great artist Italo Vagnetti, is dominated by Palazzo Pretorio and the Parish Church of St. John the Baptist. Surmounted by a beautiful Renaissance porch, it cherishes a precious painting by Frà Bartolomeo. Vicchio is also home to Beato Angelico Musuem, that doesn't contain artworks by the illustrious painter, but gathers precious masterpieces from all over the surrounding area and is regarded to be the most important art exhibition in the entire Mugello area.
Other outstanding monuments worthy of note are the seventeenth-century Oratory of Archconfraternity of Misericordia, that is embellished by original architectural elements, and the house of Benvenuto Cellini, who lived there from 1559 to1571.
Vicchio is situated few kilometres far from Barbiana, that became famous because of the extraordinary educational programmes carried out by Don Lorenzo Milani, and from Vespignano, that is Giotto's native town.
