The city centre, which rises 1664 metres above sea level, offers sweeping views of the surrounding Alpine peaks, glaciers and ancient woods. It is dominated by Lake Beauregard and its dyke, a large artificial basin which is fully encircled by a fascinating footpath to be covered in about 3 hours. In August, this unsurfaced road hosts the so-called “Martze a pià” racing competition.
Not to be missed are the local workshops which are specialized in the weaving of the so-called Drap, a traditional rough fabric, the Museum of sacred art of the local parish church, which contains precious liturgical items and works of sacred art, the ancient bell tower of Valgrisenche's sacristy, which dates back to 1417, and the small chapels of the valley, whose peculiar architectural style contributes to give them utmost profusion.
