Turbigo's old town gathers plenty of interesting monuments and buildings, such as the fourteenth-century castle which was erected over the remains of an ancient Roman tower. The so-called Corte Nobile, which was once the residence of the Cardinal Flaminio Piatti, is situated on the slopes of the impressive fortress. Not to be missed is the picturesque district of Monteruzzo, which was built in 1200 along the local Naviglio Grande and was mostly inhabited by fishermen and sailors.
The highest part of the city is dominated by the Parish Church of Vergine Assunta, a majestic building which was designed by Carlo Bonomi, who also conceived the beautiful Piazza San Francesco and the statue of the Saint.
The Church of St. Cosma and Damiano, which was built between 1639 and 1640 according to the canons of Rome's Church of Gesù,  is one of the city's most representative buildings. Another interesting monument is the bridge over the river Ticino, which connects the Lombard banks with the Piedmont ones. The left bank of Naviglio Grande is dominated by Palazzo Gray de Crisoforis, which was erected over the remains of an ancient eighteenth-century villa, and by a monumental sixteenth-century palace, which hosts a splendid stone fireplace bearing the oldest fresco of the city. Not to be missed are Villa “La Selvaggia”, which is home to one of the largest galleries of plaster casts in Italy, Villa Piatti –Tatti, which boasts a sumptuous portico dating back to the eighteenth century, and Villa Barozza – Vezzani, whose interior still retains evidences of the original structure, the Monastery of the Discalced Augustinian Friars, which was characterized by both barrel and cross valuts.
