Tirrenia, a thriving seaside resort situated in the province of Pisa bordering Marina di Pisa to the north and Calambrone to the south, is a highly appreciated summer destination. Its coastline, which is dotted with fascinating dunes, is backed by the lush pinewood forest which flanks the whole coastline. Tirrenia’s territory is included in Migliarino, San Rossore, Massaciuccoli Natural Park.

Tirrenia is a relatively new resort; it was founded in 1932 after the incredible land reclamation which took place in the whole area. The Fascist government appointed it the City of Cinema and commissioned the building of the first studios in Italy, which were later replaced by the Cinecittà studios in Rome. Its territory has hosted the American military base of Camp Darby since 1951.
Today, Tirrenia’s major attraction is its 5-kilometre-long compelling beach of fine sand, which is equipped with plenty of modern bathing establishments. Tirrenia’s major avenue, which is situated halfway between the pinewood forest and the main bathing establishments, is scattered with glamorous clubs, excellent restaurants and amazing tourist attractions.
Sport lovers will have the opportunity to take advantage of well-equipped riding grounds, golf clubs, a large public swimming pool, several tennis courts, a softball field, two rugby fields and a baseball field. Both excursionists and cyclists will have the possibility to explore the beautiful pinewood forest, which in summer gives them the opportunity to seek relief from the suffocating heat.
