Telese Terme, which is situated just in the heart of Telesina Valley, develops along the right banks of the river Calore and rises 30 kilometres far from the provincial capital of Benevento. During the Roman Period, the so-called Telesia was an important, thriving town. Unfortunately, it was totally destroyed by the terrible earthquake of 1349, but this tragedy contributed to the outrush of  thermal waters, which have then made the city famous all over the world. Over the course of the XIX century, the territories of the ancient Telesia have begun being inhabited again, since people are attracted by its thermal springs.
