Santa Cristina Valgardena (German: St.Christina in Gröden) is a small municipality of Val Gardena situated in the province of Bolzano. This pretty village rises at an altitude comprised between 1.250 and 3.179 metres above sea level. It is an appreciated holiday resort both in winter and in summer, thanks to well-equipped ski slopes and enchanting Alpine landscapes. In December, the famous Saslong slope, which connects Ciampinoi with Santa Cristina Valgardena, hosts an important competition of the Alpine Skiing World Cup.

Santa Cristina gathers a remarkably wide array of accommodation facilities, such as hotels belonging to different categories which are situated just in the heart of the city centre. Expert skiers can stay at comfortable hotels situated a short distance from the slopes, while the lovers of nature and tranquillity can stay at intimate holiday farms or comfortable residences.

Among these, the parish church of St. Cristina, which was built in the XII century in the Romanesque style, Gardena Castle, a sumptuous XVI-century building which is surrounded by artificial lakes and a thick wood, and the fascinating Planetary Itinerary, which snakes along the path which was once covered by Val Gardena's railway line.
