The city centre was once dominated by the imposing Mondaldeschi Castle, that belonged to a powerful family from Orvieto who ruled over a wide area between 1200 and 1300. Today, some elements of the castle have been incorporated into the local Villa, that was built in the nineteenth century and is now the seat of the local municipality. It cherishes precious paintings and decorations that once belonged to the ancient church of St.Venanzo.
