San Marcello, which is situated in the province of Ancona, is a tiny resort which develops 233 metres above sea level along the left banks of the river Esino.  Founded in 1234 by the colony of Jesi, it still retains high monumental walls and sumptuous Renaissance buildings. It is situated just in the heart of a privileged position, a short distance from the sweet hills of the Marches, Senigallia's white beaches and Jesi' city centre.

San Marcello is scattered with charming farm houses and intimate manor houses, which are idyllically set amidst the sweet rolling hills of the Marches. San Marcello's city centre also hosts small and welcoming bed and breakfasts. The major routes which lead to the nearby resorts are also peppered with plenty of comfortable budget hotels.

San Marcello's famous Municipal Theatre, which has currently been totally restored, has recently been included in the prestigious list of the most beautiful theatres of the Marches. The XVIII-century Church of St. Marcello cherishes two precious paintings which depict the patron saint St. Marcello and a Deposition from the cross respectively. The most important example of the Renaissance architecture is Palazzo Marcelli, whose inner rooms cherish plenty of wonderful frescoes of great value.
