Rivarolo Canavese, a small municipality of the northern province of Turin, develops along the right banks of the stream Orco, a major tributary of the river Po. This thriving centre rich in history and traditions is dominated by the imposing profile of Malgrà Castle.

Built in the Middle Ages, this fascinating fortress was subsequently restored in 1884 and in 1900. Its peculiar structure is dominated by a high central circular tower embellished by beautiful merlons. The castle has recently been purchased by the local municipality, and is now the seat of a multipurpose centre gathering interesting displays and exhibitions.
Rivarolo Canavese's old town is scattered with further outstanding monuments of great value. The church of St. Michele Arcangelo is one of the most appreciated masterpieces of the popular eighteenth-century architect Bernardo Antonio Vittone. Its aisles and naves are surmounted by a huge octogonal dome. Other churches and historical buildings worthy of mention are the Church of Gesù, the Church of St. Giacomo, the monastery of St. Francesco, Palazzo Palma di Borgofranco and Palazzo Farina, the latter being embellished by wonderful mosaic floors and frescoed walls.
The lovers of motor vehicles won't miss the opportunity to visit the Museum of Historic Locomotion and Car, an interesting collection of vintage cars and ancient means of transport that was arranged to celebrate Piedmont's car manufacturing tradition. Furthermore, Rivarolo Canavese is situated a short distance from Ivrea and its enchanting lakes, as well as from Turin and the Alps.
