The nearby Cerricò hill hosts the remains of the imposing Castle of Riomaggiore, the so-called Castellazzo. This huge XV-century fortress with quadrangular plan is complemented by two circular towers and surrounded by impressive defensive walls.
Not to be missed is the enchanting pedestrian path that connects Riomaggiore with the fairy-tale village of Manarola. Known as Via dell'Amore (Love Path), it is totally dug into the rock and boasts breathtaking views over the sea and the glorious underlying landscapes.
Riomaggiore's major avenue hosts the interesting Museum of Memory. It is subdivided into three distinct sections: natural environment, history and ethnography of Cinque Terre.
Capo Montenero Promontory hosts the lush Torre della Guardiola Park, that is one of the most unspoiled places of the Mediterranean basin. It hosts an interesting Centre of Environmental Education that attracts the lovers of both nature and birdwatching.
