Pozzolengo is a small municipality situated in the province of Brescia which extends halfway between the southern shores of Lake Garda and the surrounding morainal hills. Pozzolengo's most representative building is the fortified castle provided with merloned towers which gazes across the city centre from the top of Mount Fluno. The Castle of Pozzolengo dates back to the X century, but it was repeatedly remodelled during the five following centuries. Its interior cherishes the remains of the church of St. Lorenzo martire. Saint Lorenzo, the city's patron saint, is celebrated by the parish church which was built in 1510 and subsequently enlarged in the eighteenth century. The inner spaces are embellished by precious artworks of great value.
Walking across Pozzolengo's glorious countryside, tourists will have the possibility to admire ancient farmhouses and cellars where the Lugana wine is still produced. Not to be missed is the Abbey of St. Vigilio, which was erected in the Lombard period and still retains the remains of the small church which was realized here in 1104.
