Ozzano dell'Emilia, a small municipality of the province of Bologna, is situated just in the heart of a fascinating karst landscape, and nestles on the slopes of the gentle Felsinei hills. The city, that is part of the enchanting Park of Bologna's Chalk Pits and Abbadessa Ravines, is crossed by the stream Quaderna and develops across the central part of the province, a short distance from the ancient Via Aemilia.

One of the city's most prestigious religious buildings is the Church of St. Cristoforo and Carlo, that was erected in 1642 thanks to the financial support of Count Carlo Grati. The building, that was completely restored in 1924, still retains some Tuscan-style architectural elements, such as two orders of columns and a triangular tympan.
Not to be missed is the lovely Village of St. Pietro, that rises on the top of the 150-metre-high hill that dominates the homonymous hamlet. This small medieval complex once distributed around the Castle of Uggiano, that was built in 1099. This ancient fortress, that was erected to protect Via Aemilia, is almost completely ruined. Only the Tower of St. Pietro (1175-76) is still visible. A short distance from it, that was originally used as a bell tower, a wonderful archaeological garden was realized in 2002.
The city's central square is dominated by the Palace of Culture. Inaugurated in 1998, it is home to the famous  "8 marzo 1908" Municipal Library and "Città di Claterna" Roman Archaeological Museum, the latter gathering precious remains that were unearthed in the archaeological site of Claterna, an ancient Roman colony that once developed along the course of the river Quaderna.
