Among Ossona's major civic buildings is the sixteenth-century Villa Litta Modignani, the current seat of the Town Hall, whose interior cherishes precious frescos of great value which were recently restored. Next to the Villa is the church of St. Bartolomeo, which was erected in the XI century but subsequently remodelled over the course of the centuries. Its interiors are embellished by oustanding frescos dating back to the seventeenth and eighteenth century. Ossona's parish church is dedicated to St. Cristoforo: precious historical documents testify to the fact this building was erected in the XIII century. Another sacred building worthy of mention is the chapel of the lazarette, which was built north of the city centre over the remains of a seventeenth-century lazarette. Its sober outer structure is dramatically offset by the precious frescos which ornate the inner walls.
