Medolago is a small municipality situated 16 kilometres west of Bergamo. It derives its name from the fact it was situated just in the heart of Lake Gerundo, which has been dried up for several centuries now. Medolago's municipal territory is flanked by the river Adda, which flows along the left edge of the town.

A short distance from the old town is the small church of the Alpine troops, which was erected in the XV century and recently restored.
