A short distance from the city centre is the important sanctuary of Madonna del Monte, a sumptuous Romanesque building that is embellished by a splendid portal. Every year on May 14 the traditional  “Passate” or "Barabbate” Festival is held here, when citizens climb to the sanctuary to give the Madonna the first fruit and vegetable.
