Manerbio is a small municipality which is situated about 20 and 30 kilometres far from Brescia and Cremona respectively. Manerbio's most important historical buildings date back to the following age, such as Palazzo Luzzago di Bagno, the current seat of the Town Hall, the church of St. Lorenzo Martire and the adjoining bell tower, which were all realized between ‘600 and ‘700.
Nowadays, the large plain which surrounds Manerbio is dotted with glorious countrysides and numerous thriving industries, which have mainly developed north-east of the urban settlement. Manerbio is famous all over the world since it hosted the popular Marzotto Woll Mills for almost a century, which were inaugurated here in 1908 and closed in 2002. They developed around the old town and formed the so-called “social city”, which gathered council houses, working men's clubs, nursery schools, theatres and plenty of further facilities. Today, this space is occupied by the so-called Park of Ville, which extends across the former residential area of Marzotto's district and is equipped with children's playgrounds, comfortable benches, lush trees and sumptuous fountains. The large surrounding area, which is peppered with old sheds and warehouses, is to be included in an ambitious upgrading project.
