Like that of any other resort of the Amalfi Coast, Maiori's old town is dotted with picturesque houses, narrow streets, mysterious nooks and crannies and charming squares. In the middle of the valley, the river Corso Regina cuts the city into two distinct parts, thus facilitating the visit of the two major monuments: the Church of St.  Maria a Mare, which was erected in the XII century and then repeatedly remodelled over the course of the years, and the Sanctuary of St. Maria delle Grazie, which was rebuilt in the twentieth century after the tragic flood. The Church of St. Maria a Mare, which was designed by the nineteenth-century architect Pietro Valente, is Maiori's most representative building, and cherishes precious artworks which were realized between the XIII and the XVII century.
One of Maiori's most fascinating places is Pandone Cave, where water reflections create wonderful light effects that can be compared with those embellishing the famous Capri Cave. Those flocking to Maiori will have the possibility to explore plenty of outstanding itineraries that develop across the  hinterland and the wild natural landscapes of Mounts Lattari. Not to be missed are the small fifteenth-century church of St Erasmo a Pucera and the intimate church of St. Maria di Tramonti, wonderful places of worship that are idyllically set just in the heart of unspoiled natural landscapes. A short distance from Maiori is the impressive Complex of St. Ogliastra, which is embellished by wonderful mural paintings dating back to the XI century.
Not to be missed are the local beaches and beguiling sea: Maiori's sandy lido is one of the most compelling beaches of the surrounding area.
