Its most representative sacred building is the XIII-century Sanctuary of Natività di Maria. It cherishes an important eighteenth-century wooden statue depicting the Madonna that was found by local inhabitants on the nearby beach of Arzachena. Every year in September, the popular Manna Festival is held here, and attracts large numbers of pilgrims and believers from all over Sardinia. Every seven year during this festival, the Sacred Door of the Sanctuary is opened.
The city centre is surrounded by enchanting naturalistic beauties of great fascination. Thick woods and impressive granite rocks are dramatically offset by lush meadows and high pastures. The whole surrounding area is scattered with impressive ruins and remains, that bear witness to the glorious vicissitudes Luogosanto experienced in the Middle Ages, when it was repeatedly sacked and eventually abandoned.
