Lonate Pozzolo is a Lombard municipality situated in the province of Varese bordering Piedmont and the province of Milan. Idyllically set halfway between Lombardy and Piedmont, a short distance from A8 Milan-Lakes Motorway, Milan-Turin Motorway and Gallarate-Malpensa-Boffalora Clearway, Lonate Pozzolo lies within a short driving distance from Milan-Malpensa Airport, the most important terminal in Northern Italy.

Thanks to its strategic position, over the last few years Lonate Pozzolo has experienced substantial growth and plenty of modern infrastructures and public facilities have been built in the surrounding area. The city also gathers comfortable accommodation facilities, such as modern hotels situated near the main Motorway junctions, small guesthouses provided with free shuttle buses to Malpensa Airport and elegant hotels provided with targeted conference facilities for business travellers. The Municipal Palace, which was built over the remains of the ancient monastery of St. Agata and its large park, is one of the most appreciated tourist destinations in Lonate Pozzolo. The tour of the old town could go on with the visit of the ancient medieval monastery of  St. Michele, which once hosted an enclosed order. The inner spaces are still divided into dormitories, kitchens, refectories and warehouses. Today the building, which was acquired by the local municipality, hosts a multi-purpose centre and the municipal library.
Not to be missed are the nearby hamlets of Sant’Antonino Ticino, which gathers impressive medieval buildings and palaces, and Tornavento, which offers sweeping views of the Ticino Valley and is peppered with sumptuous nineteenth-century buildings belonging to the noble Parravicino Family, that commissioned the building of new industries, farms and public places. Few kilometres far from Lonate's city centre is the pretty village of Cascina Maggia, which cherishes the oratory of Consolata.
