Visiting Licata
Licata, an important municipality of the province of Agrigento, develops along the coast for almost 20 kilometres. Its eastern side boasts compelling beaches of fine sand, while the western part is covered with high cliffs and impressive rock spurs.
Licata's welcoming hotels, that are situated a short distance from both the sea and the enchanting landscapes of the surrounding area, are the ideal accommodation facilities for those interested in spending pleasant holidays here. The local guest houses, that distribute around the beach and the major tourist areas, gather modern comforts and spacious bedrooms. The local residences are able to suit even the most demanding requirements of different kinds of tourists.
Licata's territory is covered with interesting archaeological sites of great value dating back to the period comprised between the Neolithic Age and the Byzantine Period.
Tourists will have the opportunity to enjoy Licata's compelling beaches and beguiling, crystal-clear sea, as well as to admire the outstanding historic and architectural beauties of the old town. The Church of Carmine, that is flanked by the Convent of Annunziata, boasts a sumptuous Baroque interior that contains precious paintings and ancient tombs. The Church of St. Salvatore was erected in 1563, but was subsequently remodelled in 1697.
