The church was erected in the sixteenth century, but has recently been renovated and now cherishes a precious fresco by the painter G. Quaglio. The Sanctuary is the traditional tourist mecca for thousands of pilgrims, who are interested in visiting the place where a miracle took place on August 6, 1688. Built on the top of a gentle panoramic hill which overlooks the underlying compelling landscape, the Sanctuary has a precious Baroque facade which is embellished with Classical-style architectural patterns. The sober and elegant interior cherishes outstanding ornaments and decorations of great value, such as the frescoed dome, the impressive high altar, which was erected in 1746 and subsequently embellished with colourful marbles, and three decorated windows.
Not be missed are the Church of Madonna dei Ceppi in Cendraro, which is surrounded by an enchanting landscape, the Church of St. Giuseppe, which was commissioned by Bellini Family at the end of the seventeenth century and was built on the shores of the lake, and the Church of St. Rocco in Villa.
