Lagosanto, a small municipality of the province of Ferrara, is idyllically set just in the heart of the fertile plain that extends between the river Po di Volano and the marshes of Comacchio. This ancient early medieval village is situated 47 kilometres far from the provincial capital, and develops a short distance from the important naturalistic area of the Park of the Po Delta.

The charming farm houses that punctuate the lush hills of the surrounding area give guests the possibility to go for pleasant walks and taste genuine traditional specialities from Emilia.

Lagosanto's major religious building is the Parish Church of St. Maria della Neve, that was erected over the remains of a pre-existing structure dating back to 1632. Its interior cherishes some precious Venetian polychrome glass mosaics (1951-1954) depicting both religious subjects and scenes of ordinary life.
The city's central core is characterized by the presence of an imposing Clock Tower, that was erected in 1932 over the remains of an ancient XIV-century church. This elegant neo-Renaissance architectural complex is now home to the historical archives of the local Municipality. The left banks of the river Po di Volano are dominated by the imposing game preserve which once belonged to the Estensi Family, the so-called Tagliata di Marozzo. This rectangular complex, that was erected in 1598, was originally surrounded by four side towers, two of which can still be seen in front of the building.
Not to be missed is the Festival of Strawberry, the symbol of the city. This amazing event, which has now reached its 17ª edition, takes place every year in May and attracts both tourists and gourmets from all over Italy.
