Situated in the province of Brescia, the small municipality of Iseo develops along the south-eastern shores of the homonymous lake. Its town layout, which was designed during the Middle Ages, still retains precious influences dating back to that period. The part of the city which overlooks Lake Iseo, that is to say the lakeside promenade, was fully renovated in the nineteenth century and is now scattered with modern services and facilities which attract large numbers of tourists and sports lovers.

Among the most appreciated holiday destinations, not to be missed is the Parish Church of St. Andrea, which is the city's most representative landmark and cherishes an historic-artistic heritage of great value. The original structure dates back to the VI century, but it was remodelled in the XII century and subsequently enlarged in the following ages. Some parts of the church still retain their Romanesque structure, while the facade is a fascinating chequerboard of different styles and architectural patterns. Inside the church is a precious painting by Francesco Hayez. Worthy of note is Castle Oldofredi, a square fortress featuring stone corner towers which have dominated the city from the top of an impressive rock spur since the XI century. The name of the castle derives from that of the famous commander Giacomo Oldofredi, who lived here in the fourteenth century. Oldofredi also commissioned the building of the small church of Madonna del Mercato, which is one of the most ancient sanctuaries of the surrounding area.
