Gressan is a small municipality of Val d'Aosta which is situated few kilometres far from the regional capital. It is a real paradise for expert sportsmen and skiers, since it includes the lovely hamlet of Pila, a popular ski resort which is easily accessible from Aosta through excellent cableway connections.

The lush vegetation of the surrounding plain, Pila's famous ski slopes and Gressan's old town, which is scattered with outstanding monuments and buildings, attract large numbers of tourists, who will have the opportunity to stay at the charming guesthouses of the city centre, comfortable residences and intimate shelters situated along Pila's major ski slopes. The lush orchards and meadows of the surrounding valley lurk charming holiday farms.

Gressan's enchanting old town boasts ancient origins, as evidenced by the outstanding monuments which punctuate the central streets. Not to be missed are the Romanesque church of Sainte-Marie-Madeleine de Villa, which cherishes precious frescos dating back to the XV century, and the nearby castle, whose XII-century tower and wide courtyard give visitors the possibility to enjoy breathtaking views over the underlying plain. The Roman Tower De La Plantà has been inhabited by the noble family De La Plantà since the XIV century.
Gressan's city centre gathers several sports centres, tennis courts, swimming pools, lush green areas to perform open-air activities and numerous footpaths which cross the wide meadows and thick woods of the surrounding area. Pila is a real paradise for sports lovers, since its ski district gathers over 70 kilometres of slopes and 12 ski-lift facilities. In summer, Pila makes the ideal base for undertaking fascinating excursions to the Alpine lakes of Emilius and Punta della Pierre, the latter offering breathtaking views over the impressive peaks of the surrounding area. The lovers of mountain bike will have the possibility to take advantage of targeted cross-country itineraries. Pila also gathers a 9-hole golf club and several riding grounds.
