Visiting Giulianova

Giulianova is one of the most important seaside resorts of the middle Adriatic Sea. It is subdivided into an upper part, which rises on the top of the sweet surrounding hills, and a lower part, which develops along the coastline and is scattered with well-groomed bathing establishments and excellent tourist services. This thriving seaside resort, which is situated in the province of Teramo, is provided with an efficient railway station and boasts excellent connections with A14 Motorway

Those who decide to spend their holidays in Abruzzo will have the possibility to discover one of the most surprising regions in Italy. Giulianova's main guest houses distribute along the coastline, while the local hotels are situated along the roads which lead to the nearby mountains and natural beauties, such as Abruzzo National Park, Gran Sasso Massif and Majella Natural Park. The glorious surrounding countryside, which develops halfway between the sea and the mountains, is peppered with charming farm houses which give guests the possibility to spend pleasant holidays here based on the utmost rest and relax.

Giulianova develops from the hills up to the coast; its town layout is extremely rational in the lower part, but gets more complex in the upper one because of the presence of  sweet hills and steep slopes.
Giulianova gives visitors the possibility to enjoy breathtaking views over both the sea and the surrounding mountains. Walking down the streets of the old town, they will have the opportunity to admire sumptuous palaces, outstanding monuments and precious historical finds.
Since the 70s, tourism has been the most important economic sector of the city, which is also provided with a thriving seaport. Giulianova's excellent tourist services and facilities and outstanding monuments attract large numbers of visitors from all over Europe. The city extends from its famous monumental sea front up to the nineteenth-century monument dedidated to Victor Emmanuel II (which was realized by Raffaello Pagliaccetti), from the late Renaissance Church of St. Antonio up to the small fifteenth-century Church of St. Anna.
Not to be missed are the Duomo of St. Flaviano, a sumptuous building dedicated to the Saint Patriarch of Costantinopole which was erected in the XV century, the ancient Church of St. Maria a Mare, which was partially damaged by bombing during World War II, and the Sanctuary of Maria Santissima dello Splendore, an important religious destination which has been venerated since 1557, when the Virgin Mary appeared here.
