The lively resort of Gaverina Terme is idyllically set just in the heart of a small plain situated at the right edge of Val Cavallina. The lush plateau which hosts Gaverina Terme's city centre is situated at an altitude of 599 metres above sea level, it is surrounded by Mount Gallo and Mount Altinello and is situated about 26 kilometres far from Bergamo, the provincial capital.

Gaverina's thermal waters, which are the most important natural resource of the surrounding area together with the city's enchanting natural beauties and outstanding monuments, attract large numbers of tourists, who will have the opportunity to stay at the comfortable hotels of the city centre or the charming guesthouses of the valley. The city's most important resource are the alkaline-sulphur thermal waters containing bicarbonate which are employed by the local spa establishment or used to carry out hydropinic treatments. The fascinating seat of the Spa Establishment, an Art-nouveau building dating back to 1922, is situated in the lovely hamlet of Fondi, which stands a short distance from Gaverina Terme. The city's most representative monument is the medieval Tower of Suardi, which dominates the city centre and bears witness to the fierce fighting between Guelph and Ghibelline lords which took place during the Middle Ages. Among the most appreciated sacred buildings are the church of St.  Rocco, which rises on the top of an impressive rock spur overlooking the underlying valley, and the parish church of St. Vittore Martire, which is embellished by plenty of precious paintings. Not to be missed are the ancient village of Trate, which is dominated by the Baroque church of Vergine Addolorata, whose interior cherishes outstanding works of art, and the Sanctuary of Colle Gallo, which was built in 1690 to celebrate Madonna della Neve  and is a traditional gathering place for cyclists flocking to this fascinating mountain route to enjoy breathtaking views over the underlying landscapes.
