Garlasco, a small municipality of the province of Pavia, is idyllically set just in the heart of central-eastern Lomellina. It develops along the left bank of the river Terdoppio, just upon the border with the valley of the river Ticino.

Garlasco's most representative monument is the Sanctuary of Madonna della Bozzola, where in 1462 the Virgin Mary appeared to a young woman. Today the building, which has repeatedly been remodelled and enlarged,  boasts a Greek-cross plan, and its facade is embellished by plenty of wonderful terracotta decorative statues. The icon depicting the miraculous event rises over the high altar. The sanctuary also cherishes some wood statues, which are said to date back to the eighteenth century.
The central Piazza della Repubblica is dominated by the Corinthian Parish Church of St. Maria Assunta. It is surmounted by a majestic dome, and subdivided into a nave and two aisles featuring an external entrance each. The interior cherishes plenty of precious artworks of great value, such as an organ dating back to 1896, the marble pulpit and plenty of further paintinsg and bas-reliefs.
The parish church is backed by the Church of St. Rocco, which contains interesting decorations by acclaimed local artists. The single-nave Church of St. Trinità is embellished by plenty of Baroque decorations, and its facade is decked out with fine eighteenth-century stoccoes.
Garlasco is also home to one of the most important medieval castles of Lomellina, whose imposing tower still retains its original fascination. Martinetti Theatre, which resembles the beautiful La Scala Theatre in Milan, can accommodate up to 250 spectators. The facade of this elegant circular building  is embellished by precious Renaissance architectural decorations.
