Fiorenzuola d’Arda, a small municipality of the province of Piacenza, lies just in the heart of the fertile plain that is crossed by the streams Arda and Chiavenna, and develops along the ancient Via Aemilia. This lovely city of Roman origins extends across the central-eastern part of the province, 27 kilometres far from Piacenza.

The city's most prestigious religious building is the Collegiate Church of St. Fiorenzo, that was erected around 1300 over the remains of pre-existing Romanesque-Lombard architectures. This Gothic church with a nave and two aisles boasts a sumptuous tripartite facade that is embellished by high pinnacles, a central rose window and a wide portal provided with brick decorations. Not to be missed is the majestic complex that includes the Monastery and Church of St. Giovanni, that was realized by Cistercian monks in the first half of 1600. The building, that has recently been completely restored, is the current seat of the Municipality. It still retains its original aspect and hosts a huge library gathering more than 50.000 volumes.
Corso Garibaldi, the major arterial road of the old town, is dominated by the impressive Palazzo Grossi (XV century), that is embellished by precious windows adorned with pointed arches and brick decorations, and by the eighteenth-century  rectangular-shaped Palazzo Bertamini Lucca, that is complemented by a lush rear garden and a lovely chapel gathering a splendid fresco cycle.
One of Fiorenzuola's most popular and important events is its traditional Carnival party, the so-called Festa della Zobia. Every year, this amazing celebration, that has been held since the late Middle Ages, attracts large numbers of visitors from the nearby provinces.
