Cuglieri is the largest municipality of the province of Oristano. It is idyllically set just in the heart of a wonderful panoramic area that develops along the western slopes of Muntiferru, and is situated a very short distance from the enchanting Sinis Peninsula. Houses and buildings are dominated by the splendid collegiate church of St. Maria della Neve, that was commissioned by Bishop Giorgio Soggia Serra in the XVII century. Its interior cherishes a precious stone statue depicting Madonna della Neve, that was sculpted in the XV century.
Cuglieri is situated a short distance from further important tourist centres, such as the compelling beaches of the wonderful seaside resorts of Santa Caterina di Pittinuri, S’Archittu and Torre del Pozzo. The lovely hamlet of Narbolia is home to the splendid beach of Is Arenas, that is surrounded by a lush pinewood forest, while Bonarcado hosts two splendid Romanesque churches of great value. Not to be missed is the important archaeological complex of Serruggiu, that is situated few kilometres far from Cuglieri. The nearby Montiferru is crossed by exciting trekking and mountain-biking itineraries that give tourists the possibility to explore thick woods, high pastures and wonderful lookout points.
