The city's most representative sacred monument is the Church of St. Maria of Crispiano. The building, which was erected in 1815 over the remains of an ancient medieval abbey, rises on the top of an impressive rock spur. Its crypt is embellished by several important frescoes which were realized in the XII and XIII centuries.
Another site worthy of note is Torre Cacace, which was commissioned in 1873 by the homonymous family. This 30-metre-high funerary monument featuring octagonal plan reminds of the ancient seafaring origins of the family .
The Museum of Peasant Society, which is hosted inside the famous "Masseria Lupoli" and is subdivided into nine theme rooms, gives tourists the possibility to discover Crispiano's history, culture and traditions.
Every year at the beginning of July, Crispiano is home to an amazing festival, the famous Carnival of Brigantino. This popular event gives tourists the possibility to combine funny summer holidays with excellent cooking and total fun.
