Corinaldo is an appreciated tourist destination of the province of Ancona. Situated few kilometres far from the coast, just behind the enchanting resort of Senigallia, Corinaldo has recently been appointed one of the most beautiful villages in Italy. The city's picturesque old town is surrounded by impressive city walls which date back to the XV century. Those who visit Corinaldo for the first time, will be fascinated by its impressive city walls, which have remained almost unruined for the past five centuries. The one-kilometre-long promenade along the walls give tourists the possibility to admire imposing entrance gates, ghibelline merlons, communication treches, impressive bulwarks and high defensive towers. This itinerary leads to a corridor which dominates Via del Corso, the city's major arterial route which is home to the Municipal Palace and further sumptuous manor houses.
Corinaldo also hosts the Sanctuary of St. Maria Goretti, a splendid Baroque building whose interior is embellished by precious artworks of great value.
One of Corinaldo's most illustrious citizens is Claudio Ridolfi, a famous painter from Verona who spent most of his life here between the sixteenth and the seventeenth century. The surrounding territory is scattered with small churches which contain his most famous works of sacred art, and also hosts Claudio Ridolfi Civic art collection, which cherishes more than sixty paintings.
