Visiting Commezzadura
Commezzadura is a small municipality situated in the province of Trento. Idyllically set just in the heart of Val di Sole, it rises 850 metres above sea level in western Trentino. The municipal territory is made up of five hamlets: Almazzago, which is situated on the slopes of Mount Spolverino, on the left bank of the river Noce, and Mestriago, Mastellina, Piano and Deggiano, which lie further north, on the slopes of Mount Camocina.
The whole municipal territory is surrounded by thick woods of evergreen plants and impressive Alpine peaks and glaciers (the Brenta Dolomites east, the mountain range of Ortles – Cevedale north-west and Presanella and Adamello south-west).
The proximity with important peaks, which are easily accessible from the main ski resorts of Commezzadura district through modern ski-lift facilities, together with unspoilt Alpine landscapes, make this valley a traditional holiday destination all year round. The five small villages which make up the municipal territory are scattered with comfortable hotels and guesthouses belonging to any category. Not to be missed are intimate residences and bed and breakfasts.
The nearby ski resorts of Marileva and Folgarida boast excellent ski-lift facilities which lead up to Madonna di Campiglio and Dolomiti-Adamello-Brenta ski district. Presena glacier offers tourists the possibility to ski all year round, while Commezzadura hosts a ring circuit provided with proper illumination which is dedicated to the lovers of cross-country skiing.
During summer, large numbers of both Italian and foreign tourists are attracted by enchanting landscapes and outstanding natural beauties. The rapids of the river Noce give tourists the possibility to experience rafting, kayaking and hydrospeeding, while Alpine lakes and streams are the paradise of the lovers of sports fishing. Sport lovers will have the possibility to take advantage of a comfortable cycle path which flanks the river and of several itineraries to be covered both on foot and by mountain bike. The lovers of climbing and trekking and those interested in experiencing paragliding will have the possibility to enjoy exciting emotions.
The small centres which make up the municipality of Commezzadura are peppered with impressive aristocratic residences dating back to the period of the Austro-Hungarian domination. The village of Mastellina gives tourists the possibility to go for pleasant walks across ancient buildings and stately homes which once belonged to important historical personalities, such as the native house of the painter Francesco Guardi and the XV-century church of St. Antonio Abate. Almazzago and Piano convey utmost profusion too; the road which leads to Deggiano is dominated by the church of St. Agata, which is regarded to be the most representative sacred building in Commezzadura.
