Cessapalombo is a small municipality of the province of Macerata. Part of its territory, which is almost fully covered with thick woods, develops across the National Park of Mounts Sibillini. This tiny village is situated a short distance from the compelling beaches of Civitanova Marche.

Cessapalombo gathers a wide range of intimate and welcoming hotels and guest houses. The sweet surrounding hills are dotted with charming farm houses, while both the city centre and the glorious countryside are scattered with fascinating bed and breakfasts and small family-run inns.

One of the city's most fascinating attractions is the so-called Cave of Friars, which was probably erected as a spiritual retreat; its entrance hosts a small niche which was probably used as a chapel. Not to be missed is Montalto Castle, which is embellished by several towers dating back to different historical periods. The whole municipal territory is scattered with picturesque stone churches, such as San Giovanni Battista, Santa Maria Ausiliatrice and San Benedetto.
The city's most famous sacred building is the Abbey of St. Salvatore, whose sumptuous interiors are completely covered with precious frescoes dating back to different artistic periods. The most famous ones are the XIII-century frescoes depicting the Madonna and Child, which are situated over the altar, the one portraying St. George slaying the dragon, which is situated just upon the entrance, and the wonderful masterpieces which are hosted inside two facing niches, which depict  the Virgin Mary and Mary Magdalene and St. Lucia and St. Caterina respectively.
The National Park of Mounts Sibillini, which gathers wonderful protected areas, enchanting landscapes and fascinating footpaths, attracts thousands of visitors every year.
