In the 70s, outstanding archaeological remains were unearthed in Ceprano. During the Roman period,  Ceprano was one of the largest inhabited centres of Ciociaria, and was known as Fregellae. Fregellae's Archaeological Museum gathers plenty of precious finds and remains.

Ceprano is situated a short distance from the important tourist resorts of Cassino and Arpino, and from the important naturalistic reserves of Mount Calvilli and Mount Calvo. The upper part of the caves is open to the general public, and it is home to the so-called Gallery of Wonders, that is peppered with impressive stalactites, and the charming Sala della Foresta.
