The peculiar parish church of St. Agostino is situated just in the heart of the large central square, and rises over the remains of an ancient oratory which was dedicated to St. Cosma and Damiano. Legend has it that St. Agostino appeared to 40 pilgrims during the transport of his mortal remains to Pavia, and was therefore appointed the patron saint of the town.
The church is flanked by Palazzo Olevano, an imposing palace dating back to the year 1000 which belonged to a noble family. The top of the castle boasts breathtaking views over the charming hills and valleys of the underlying Oltrepo territory.
In September, Cava Manara stages an amazing folk festival, the challenging Palio delle Contrade.
