The small municipality of Castenedolo, situated in the province of Brescia, derives its name from the chestnut trees which once covered these territories. Its cosy old town, which is scattered with plenty of historical buildings of great value, is situated only 10 kilometres far from Brescia, on the top of a gentle hill rising at an altitude of 151 metres above sea level, and is surrounded by Brescia's glorious countryside and fertile plains.

Tourists will have the opportunity to stay at comfortable hotels and guesthouses belonging to any category, which are all situated just in the heart of the old town. Not to be missed are local holiday farms, which are hosted inside typical rural farmhouses.

Brescia's landscape is dotted with large farmhouses, which were once used as rural shelters for beasts of burden and farming tools, and elegant stately homes, some of the latter being of great artistic value. Among these is the eighteenth-century Palazzo Provaglio, situated in the small hamlet of Capodimonte, which was realized in a sober style and subsequently embellished by precious frescos by Pietro Scalvini. Castenedolo also gathers several historical villas, whose plain facades are dramatically offset by sumptuous inner courts. Not to be missed are the sacred buildings realized in the last century, such as the modern church of St. Maria Maddalena, which was completed in the early 60s, or the parish church dedicated to St. Giovanni Bosco, which was built in Capodimonte in 1939. Worthy of note are the wall wooden decorations carved by Olives di Prata in 1967 and the ancient altar of the church of St. Luigi, which is cherished by the major chapel.
The central Piazza Cavour is surrounded by wide pedestrian precincts and cycle paths leading to lush environmental oases and enchanting natural landscapes, which give tourists the possibility to rest while admiring the compelling beauties cherished by Brescia's vast plain.
