Castel d’Ario is famous all over the world for the impressive medieval castle it hosts, which once belonged to the Scala Family and was part of a powerful defensive bulwark together with the nearby fortresses. The majestic so-called Torre della Fame was the seat of mysterious legends and glorious historical vicissitudes. Not to be missed is the eighteenth-century Parish Church of Assunzione, which still cherishes three precious paintings by Gian Domenico Cignaroli.
