Its lovely old town is dominated by the Romanesque church of St. Pietro, that is one of the city's major cultural sites and tourist attractions. It was built between the XI and the XII centuries according to the canons of the Romanesque style, and still boasts a fascinating gabled facade. Its interior cherishes two wonderful frescoed apses dating back to the second half of the fifteenth century.
Other monuments worthy of mention are the Neoclassical parish church of St. Pietro and Paolo and the city's castle, the latter retaining only few remains of its original medieval shape. Surrounded by lush green areas, it has recently been turned into an elegant residence that can be easily reached on foot from the city centre.
