Visiting Caramanico Terme

Caramanico Terme is a small municipality of the province of Pescara, part of the Mountain Association of  Maiella and Morrone. Its mountainous territory made Caramanico the “capital” of Abruzzo's Alpine skiing, as well as a privileged holiday destination for thermal tourists from all over Italy. The sulphur waters of Caramanico's Spas and its well-equipped spa establishment, which was inaugurated in 1901, allowed for the development of a dazzling array of accommodation facilities both in the city centre and in the nearby hamlet of Santa Croce, which today merges in pleasant harmony with Caramanico Terme's town layout.

The city centre is scattered with welcoming hotels and cheap bed and breakfasts. The local spa establishment is surrounded by plenty of different guest houses belonging to different categories, such as luxury accommodation facilities which give guests the possibility to take advantage of exclusive wellbeing packages. The glorious surrounding area is peppered with charming farm houses and intimate shelters, which are encircled by impressive mountains and served by modern ski-lift facilities.

All year round, Caramanico Terme gives visitors the possibility to enjoy different kinds of activities. In summer, they will have the possibility to go for long walks across Majella National Park while performing trekking and admiring the local flora and fauna, as well as to undergo outstanding excursions to the Valley of the river Orfento and Sfischia Waterfalls. In winter, Caramanico Terme gives guests the possibility to take advantage of modern ski slopes and cross country ski areas. From April up to November, Caramanico's Spas, give tourists the possibility to enjoy the utmost relax while undergoing targeted beauty treatments and therapies.
Tourists should also visit the old town, which is still encircled by its ancient city walls. It gathers the small church of St. Maria Maggiore, which still retains its original Gothic-style outer decorations, the church of St. Tommaso Apostolo, which was rebuilt in the XIII century over the base of an old parish church dating back to the early Middle Ages, and P. Barrasso Naturalistic Archaeological Museum, which displays an oustanding reproduction of Majella's ecosystem and also cherishes important Italic and Roman finds.
