Capri has been famous for many centuries now: the first one who decided to build a villa here was  Octavian Augustus, the first emperor of Rome. His successor Tiberius commissioned the building of 11 sumptuous palaces, as evidenced by the remains of the splendid Damecuta Villa. The lovers of archaeology won't miss the opportunity to visit the so-called “Phoenician Stairway”, which dates back to the Age of Magna Graecia: up to the last century, it was the only connection between  Marina Grande and the highest parts of the island.
Capri's most famous attraction is the popular Grotta Azzurra, which can be reached by boat only during special guided tours. This wonderful narrow cave is embellished by extraordinary colours and light effects.
