The Sanctuary of Madonna di Bonacattu is one of the most representative examples of Sardinia's late-Roman and early-Christian architecture. This sober Greek-cross building is surmounted by a huge inner dome and embellished by some beautiful outer decorations. Its interior cherishes a precious terracotta depicting Madonna and Child, that was realized by an acclaimed pupil of Donatello. It attracts large numbers of pilgrims especially during the religiosu celebrations that are held here between September 17 and 19.
Bonarcado is surrounded by outstanding mountain landscapes of great beauty. It is also situated a short distance from the sea and the compelling beaches of the enchanting Sinis Peninsula.
