The church of St. Zeno, which is one of the few churches that withstood the terrible earthquake which hit Verona in 1117, is one of the most important IX-century Carolingian churches in Italy.
Its Latin cross is embellished by majestic cross vaults, while the side chapels still retain precious original decorations.
The city's most important historic-artistic monument is the Romanesque church of St. Severo, which cherishes an imposing bell tower, an outstanding medieval crypt and some precious frescoes. This lovely church is situated just in the heart of the old town, and is wholly surrounded by the impressive remains of the ancient city walls. Not to be missed are the Monastery of St.  Colombano, the Parish Church of St. Maria and the Church of St. Nicolò.
In the XIX century, Bardolino was embellished with wonderful villas and enchanting parks, such as Villa Bottagisio, Villa Guerrini, which rises just in front of the lake, Villa Marzan, whose garden cherishes a beautiful pagoda and an aviary, and Villa Ottolenghi.
