This monumental building, that is partially ruined, still retains its external apse and part of the original church, that were both realized in the VII-IX centuries. This majestic complex still hosts the XII-century monumental tomb and shrine belonging to St. Caprasio. Another monument worthy of mention is the impressive Brunella Castle. This imposing square-shaped construction is surmounted by high bulwarks and totally surrounded by a mysterious forest.
Aulla is situated a short distance from both the popular seaside resorts of Bocca di Magra, such as La Spezia and Ameglia, and Pontremoli and the fascinating Lunigiana Castles.
